What is Flags Across America?

All across the nation Boy Scout troops are exploring new ways to serve their communities and earn funding to continue their Boy Scout programs. Troop 460 has decided they would like to offer a unique service to the Pembroke Pines and neighboring communities. American patriotism is alive in South Florida, and our Boy Scouts would like to help you display it proudly!

For your $40.00 charitable contribution a uniformed Boy Scout from Troop 460, with the assistance of an adult, will properly raise a 3’x5’ American flag in your yard at sunrise, and remove it promptly before the sun sets on each of five Federal holidays through the next 12 months – even if you are not home! The Boy Scout will maintain and store the flag for you so you can rest assured your flag will be well maintained and looking sharp!

How can I get a flag for my yard?

Troop 460 serves the Western Miramar, Pembroke Pines and Cooper City areas. Our normal boundaries areGriffin Road to the North, I-75 to the West, the Florida Turnpike to the East, and Honey Hill Dr./ SW 55th St. to the South. We will sometimes make exceptions as long as your property is within a 15 minute drive from our Pines Baptist Church charter facility, or there are at least two servicing scouts available within 5 minutes of your property. Please email or call our Flags Across America service line at(616) 712-1547 with your address and our Flag Committee will consider your special request. It is important that you tell us how you heard about this program so your contribution benefits the proper Boy Scout (please see the section on your contribution below).

When will my first flag be raised?

When you purchased your flag the Boy Scout circled the first holiday you will receive  flag  service. If you requested a subscription by phone you should recieve a completed flyer by mail with your receipt after your payment has been made. How can I renew my flag subscription?

The renewal fee is only $30 for any existing customer, or for a home which is already being serviced. This means if you have just moved into the area and your home is already getting flag service from Troop 460, you may pay the lower renewal fee instead of the initial $40.

Your initial subscription is good for one year covering the five national holidays below:

  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Veteran's Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Flag Day

A few weeks before your subscription expires a Boy Scout from Troop 460 will contact the number we have on file or visit the residence  to see if you would like to renew. As soon as you pay the renewal fee we will add the next five holidays to your subscription

Can I renew my flag subscription early?

Yes. email us or call our service line at any time and we will extend your subscription to 12 months after the current expiration date. Renewal cost is $30.

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes. email us or call our service line at any time and we will stop servicing your property. If you are moving out of the area, we highly recommend you simply allow the service to expire without cancellation. Whomever moves into the property after you leave just may appreciate the flag service that comes with the house, and chances are good that they will continue the subscription. This would be greatly appreciated by our young Scouts who work hard to raise  funds for their activities. If you are dissatisfied with our service for any reason we would like an opportunity to talk with you and discuss the problem. In any case, please remember that you have given a charitable donation to a non-profit organization. We do not have excess revenue set asside for a satisfaction guarantee, but if you insist on a refund we will do everything we can to make things right.

How do you install my flag, and what if something gets damaged in the process?

Your flag will be installed by our adult leaders, not by the youth. The Boy Scouts of America is insured for most damages incurred as the result of official functions, but as an added safety measure Troop 460 has secured a general contractor who will be available whenever we visit your house to install the flag. Our team is experienced and will take precautions to ensure the installation process goes smoothly and without incident, but if something does happen please notify the team immediatly so we can arrange for repairs. If you discover a problem after your flag has been installed you can contact our service line at(616) 712-1547 and leave a detailed message about your problem and will be in contact with you promptly.
